Training and Experience

  • June 2007 - Nicky completed a Diploma in Home-based Childcare.

  • February 2011 - Nicky Become a Quality Assured Childminder able to provide funded flexible hours to eligible 3 and 4 year olds and most recently 2 year olds.

  • January 2014 - Nicky completed degree level training and assessment to become an Early Years Teacher.

  • We have up to date police checks and have both completed paediatric first aid, child protection,  Food Hygiene and Speech and Language Development training to name a few and always keep these regularly updated. We are always continually taking part in a variety of training opportunities to ensure our practice remains engaging, stimulating  and relevant.

  • Since Nicky began childminding, she has cared for a number of children with a variety of ages ranging from 6 months to 12 years. Since Gary has been working as an assistant, we have been able to increase our numbers but also able to offer an increased level of care with an exciting and varied programme of activities.

We are a married couple who have four children; three boys born in Sept 2003, Dec 2005 and Oct 2008 and a daughter born in Nov 2012. We have been living in North Tonbridge since Nov 2002 and Nicky has been childminding since February 2006. We began working together in Dec 2011 with Gary as an Assistant Childminder.  Our last Ofsted inspection took place in March 2015 where we were graded `Outstanding'.

Typical Weekly Activities

We regularly meet with other childminders and attend toddler groups, visit parks, farms and other varieties of local places of interest. We also go slightly further afield on day trips to such places as Howletts Zoo and Hastings sea-life centre.

We have a wide range of indoor and outdoor age and stage related toys and have had a covered play area specifically built (Jan 2014) so that all children have the opportunity to be included in outside play all year round regardless of weather conditions. All children in our care have the opportunity to help grow vegetables and also prepare meals. Older children are involved in planning and decision making regarding activities which take place and this is even more so in the school holidays.
